Bureaucrats

I was just told again that I should work 9am - 6pm... the job I do basically starts at around noon to 2pm depending upon the load.
I used to come in later, based on this workload and the fact that I don't take time off for lunch.
So instead I was told to come in earlier, and take a lunch. Whoopee... what an idiotic thing to do.
Ostensibly it is `just in case' someone needs to ask me something... but realistically that happens next to rarely on the border of sometimes but not often.

So I've been coming in at 9:30am, and it hasn't come up. But once again I'm being asked to come in at 9am so I can do the 8hr day with 1hr for lunch.
I hate that time schedule, I always have.
The work gets done, it gets done quickly, but that isn't what counts, what counts is that a clock synchs with my name on it.

Sometimes business really doesn't make sense. It imposes these things for no other reason than that is the way it is done.

I feel like watching Office Space again...
Sure, it isn't a big deal, it's not the shirt off my back, although with what I'm being paid it might as well be...
But that's not the point.
I'm talking about small mindedness, a lack of understanding about productivity. This is the kind of mentality that sees people as being productive every 40hrs of the week, just because they have a lunch hour and work steady hours. That's such garbage. People work at varying levels and in different ways.

Right now, the way I'm working is doing great, stuff is being done as it should be, quickly and effectively.
But I guess I am just missing the point.
