Is it not the first

Is it not the first day of spring? Then why does it feel like we are smack in the middle of December? It snowed on Monday, big fluffy flakes that stuck to your eyelashes and gently glided down to settle on your nose. It snowed until there was at least 6 inches [15 cm] of snow on the ground. We all thought that's it. That must be the end of it all, the March snow hath fallen, spring is just around the corner. Boy, were we wrong. Skies were clear when I headed into school today. When I stepped out of the subway, I was surrounded by a veritable snowstorm of white flakes. No these weren't the fluffy flakes of yesterday, gentling flitting about these were the determined I am going to slam right into our face and spit in your eye type of flakes. The weatherman says we should expect another 4 inches [10 cm] of this stuff. Has Mother Nature gone insane?
I guess it's time to hunker down in our homes for another few weeks, curl up near fireplaces or under big fluffy covers, and pray that spring gets here soon. I was so looking forward to storing my big winter coat and skipping about the streets under the sunny skies without a care in the world. [skips away]
