Woke up yesterday at the ungodly hour of 5:30 to go skiing. Am not sure how we, a friend and I, made it out the door. I think we mostly stumbled through it, grabbing equipment as we ricocheted down the hallway. Nor am I clear on the details of us making it up to the mountain, most of it I was an occasional glimpse through sleep encrusted eyes. I believe that at some point there was coffee, and perhaps a bagel, and then there was a mountain with the sun rising majestically behind it. Quiet a beautiful site, though I do not think I was in the right frame of mind to enjoy it. The only thought running through my mind as we stepped out was 'it's cold, ooh I could go for a nice hot chocolate, a large sofa and blankly and more sleep.'

The skiing turned out to be tons of fun. Another friend and I went x-country skiing, while the rest of our friends went downhill. [Have recently hurt my hip, which means downhill is out, for now] The conditions where absolutely fabulous. The weather was nice and crisp and there had been a substantial amount of snowfall during the past week, so that the trails where fresh. We spent the better part of the morning skiing, got lost along the way, and landed up on a really steep hill that curved downwards. My attempt to get down it standing lasted a tenth of the way, and then I was on my butt slid the rest of the way down. Snow's really cold when it crawls up your jacket! We managed to bag another two hills butt skiing, and then found our way back to the starting point. The afternoon was spent in the ski lodge, with a brief exploratory foray to determine where we had gotten lost. We are still not quiet sure which trial we had landed up on, maybe next time we will be able to figure it out. Headed back home in the evening, conked out as soon as we got home.
