... and life still continues apace

Went for an interview this morning, which took 40 minutes to get there and all of 25 minutes to do. [Waiting for person to show up included] The position is for a temporary science teacher with the local adult education center. A good work opportunity and the time constraints will fit in nicely with my school schedule. Their classes run 9am to 12pm, 1:30pm to 4:30pm and then there are the night courses. You can teach when you want, they will basically call you up and see if you are available. The only hiccup is, well as the interviewer put it 'if we called you tomorrow, could you start tomorrow?' Um No! Having no inkling what your scholastic program is like, having not seen the course material or the class structure, I would not feel comfortable walking in, lets say tomorrow, presenting myself to the students and having no further idea of what to do! 'Hmm.' He says, sounding not the least bit impressed and a little concerned. 'When would you be able to start then?' Well, if you could lend me the books, I could review the material and start within a week. He sent me home laden with books, and mumbled something along the lines of, review those we'll do a stage when you are ready, and then we'll see. Does that mean I have a job, or is it more of a chance at a job? [looking somewhat perplexed] Well, I better get a cracking and review the course material.
