Buffy the Musical: Reprise

Though I have been known to enjoy some musicals, I was not sure if I could actually stomach Buffy as a musical. Surprisingly enough I thoroughly enjoyed it. A wee bit ouchy at times, but all and all a rather enjoyable episode.

I found that some of the funniest moments included Spike breaking out in song, his reluctance at having to sing his feelings about Buffy shining through in the first verses of the song. There is something about a dark brooding soul breaking out in song that for some odd reason tickles my funny bone. Buffy's opening song with the demons and vampires in the background, which had a vaudeville quality to it. Also liked some of the lines they snuck into the songs, one of them is, "this line is only filler". Also thought that the scene between Zander and Anya was well done. Just the way the song went back and forth between them, with interruptions splattered through reminded me of some older musicals. Was funny, light, and sincere. The romantic sap in me loved the song sung by Tara to Willow, "Under your spell "

Finally was wowed by: Michelle Trachtenberg, who plays Dawn, just an amazing voice and great dancing abilities and Amber Benson, who plays Tara, also has an incredible voice. Well that's my two cents on this week's show and in summary all I can say was that I loved it.
