Une belle automne

Someone remarked the other day that up to this point, we were having a rather nice Fall. I stood there mouth gaping, mind reeling, 'Fall?' 'Surely you jest, aren't we still in the midst of Summer's warm embrace?'

A week into Fall, evidence of its beauty scattered about the streets in the majestic tones of reds, oranges and browns and I am still in denial. The summer can't be over. Can it? It must be a cruel joke that we have already hit the end of September. That the warm days of July and August are but fuzzy warm memories of moments spent by fountains, our bodies heated by the sun as it dances and plays across the soft ripples of the calming breeze.
