Hugin's teasing me with regards to my math skills. He just doesn’t believe me when I say that 8 minus 8 equals 12.

Howabout:
8couples - 8divorcedfathers =12 kids
8 packets of M&M's - 8 kids = 12 M&M's under the rug.
$8deposit - $8coffee and cake = $12 bankfees
8hours at work - 8 hours on the phone = $12 callcharges
See it can work if you look at it through some beer bottle glasses...
