Botanicals.

I love taking up close and personal pictures. Jamming the camera up close, zooming in and capturing the nitty gritty details. Yes I am a macro junkie. I also enjoy taking botanical stills. The problem is I never actually take the time to jot down the name of the flower that I am becoming intimate with, which leads to a mass of flower pictures to which I cannot tag a name. Here are some of the pictures that Hugin and I took last year while visiting the botanical gardens. *

the rest can be found here

Ironically after finally having managed to beat back the procrastinating beast with a rather large stick, we are now only a year and a half behind in the photo-uploading endeavour. Ok. So we’ve slipped a little further behind then I had intended. But, I promise that by next year we should only be a few months behind. Something about not making promises that one cannot keep comes to mind. Which reminds me. Has anyone used Gallery for their photo needs, and if so what do you think of it?

*If you recognize any of the flowers and know thier name please leave it in the comments. Thanks a bunch. M.

I have used Gallery for my photos, and still do on one website. I think it is a great program. It can be a bit tricky to install,if you need any help let me know. I have helped a couple of people get it working.

The middle picture is of Bleeding Hearts. If you go to google and do an image search you can see all sorts of neat varietys of them.

Mer, thank you. I hoping to get most of it up during the holidays, though may be switching to gallery. Not entirely sure. we shall see. :o)

Dad. Thank you once again. the names would be good though.. not to classify or pigeonhole, but as reference, something to associate them with other then just purple flower, pink petally thingy.

Gina, I may just take you up on the offer. *squish* Thank you for the name of the flowers. I wish I could get my hands on an all inclusive botany book. There are some good sites, but they are rather specialized.

Thank you all for the comments and the inputs it is wonderful getting feedback.

Those are great pictures. I love getting those kinds of pictures, too. But my camera has trouble focusing on things up close.

Joz, what camera are you using?
i have had problems taking "close up" with the G3 though i am not sure if it is because of the shaky hand syndrome or if the lens is just not up to the task. those were taken with an olympus, which seems to handle close up a little better.
