I'm talking web browsers.
We all have our favorites. I'm sure we have all had bad experiences with them also. I've tried Opera, Mozilla, Netscape, IE to name just the obvious ones. But a lot of stuff simply requires either Netscape or IE. And that's a shame.
Mozilla/Opera have wonderfully enjoyable (once you get the hang of them) gestures to perform functions. Plus tabbed surfing, pop-up blocking, etc... very nice stuff. I liked Mozilla and the lighter version Phoenix.
But the problem are those pages that `require' IE, etc. And some of them I either need or find inconvenient.
So, if I don't try it before someone else does, please let me know how it goes!
Posted by hugin at Abril 11, 2003 09:18 AMEver use AvantBrowser? It seems to view webpages almost exactly like IE does, plus IT BLOCKS THOSE DARN POP-UP ADS!!!
http://www.avantbrowser.com/
It's free, and worth a try.
Posted by: stacey on Abril 11, 2003 10:14 AMi have this deep aversion to anything that says "ie only". i use mozilla-based browsers because they're cross-platform, among other things.
however, if i have to use ie, avant is a good shell over top.
Posted by: duncan on Abril 11, 2003 12:08 PMActually... Phoenix is much better than Avant in my opinion. I was a diehard Avant user until I tried Phoenix. Avant gets slow, because it actually opens and *then* blocks the popup ads. Phoenix doesn't even let them through.
I can't wait to try this Hugin. Thanks for the post. I'll let you know how it goes. :D
Posted by: GeekGrrl on Abril 11, 2003 08:50 PMIt looks to be freakin' cool. It works on the fly. Therefore I can strip out colors on a horribly tacky website once I arrive. Same with JavaScript. I'm dying to try out the "Kill Flash", I just haven't had a chance yet. It was cake to install. And the IE6 XP UA works! WOO! Perfect for straightening out those sites that look best in IE. (Or so it appears after my tests).
It rocks. You rock. Yay!
