Treat Them With honour

We are entering Iraq to free a people and the only flag, which will be flown in that ancient land is their own. Show respect for them…You will see things that no man could pay to see and you will have to go a long way to find a more decent, generous and upright people than the Iraqis…If there are casualties of war then remember that when they woke up and got dressed in the morning they did not plan to die this day…If someone surrenders to you then remember they have that right in international law and ensure that one day they go home to their family.” - Lieutenant Colonel Tim Collins addressing the 1st Battalion of the Royal Irish

“As for ourselves, let's bring everyone home and leave Iraq a better place for us having been there. Our business now is north."

I do not know of a better way to prepare the troops. My thoughts are with all the service men and women, their families, and the people of Iraq. Reiterating what was said above and in the post below: May they all come home safe, may the Iraqi people see a brighter future.

Kay, me to. I wish there was a way to email or write him. He's the sort of leader that you want all commanders to be.

Ed. Me too.

I still hope that people will heed what he said. I pray that Iraq will indeed be a better place upon our leaving.
