It seems that the USA will no longer be able to put themselves above the monopoly money jokes that are flung at places like Canada that have currency with colour.
That's right, now they will have it too.
Posted by hugin at Marzo 6, 2003 01:58 PMOh! I hope its purple! :)
Posted by: Jocelyn on Marzo 6, 2003 02:22 PM....ooooh, I hope it'll be PINK!! as in, you know, the Power of the Pink Dollar? *g* ...but *sigh* I suspect the chances of that are nil to negative... *pout*
...you *know* it'll be red white & blue... which... actually... does make pale purple... :)
Posted by: edgar mousehat on Marzo 6, 2003 02:50 PMI love our monopoly money! I get so confused when I head down to the States, I keep wondering if I have given someone the right bill. Or if I have overpaid, or worse stiffed them on a good tip. Colour is good!
I am hoping for blue, or purple... maybe a verdant green that way I'll know it's a 20!
Posted by: munin on Marzo 6, 2003 06:28 PMAs an American who has been to Canada, I have to say that I LOVE your money! It is so much prettier than ours!
Even the coins...I love the $1 and $2 coins. Took me a while to figure out why there were no $1 bills...but then I realized...you guys accept the coins that people here resist!
For instance...I bought some postcards in Peggy's Cove, NS,and paid for them with a $2 coin. The cashier didn't blink an eye.
But if I did this in the States, paid for something with one of those Sacajawea $1 coins, the cashier would have looked at me cross-eyed, and called me all sorts of bad names.
I like Canada. In many ways, you guys have a lot more common sense thean we Americans do!
lol... We blogged the same story. :)
And actually when I called it "Monopoly Money" I meant the way it looks now, not Canadian money. ;)
It will be interesting to see what color they pick. :)
Posted by: GeekGrrl on Marzo 6, 2003 06:51 PMGeekgrrl, we joke that our money is Monopoly money :)
Christine, anytime you want yer welcome here!
I remember some States sides friends who kept grumbling about the dollar coin. They didn't like our loonies or twoonies either. So we'd make sure to tell the waiters that hey wanted their change in coins. yes we can be a little evil. ;o)
