I've come to the conclusion that I don't like winter.
Don't get me wrong, I have enjoyed walking on a frozen lake. The occasional snowball fight has been good. Playing tackle football has greatly benefited from soft snowy cushioning.
And of course, being in front of a fireplace.
However, being so cold that your eyelashes freeze just doesn't add to these enjoyments.
But the thing I don't like, aside from the cold, is what the cold does. Not physically, but mentally.
I stand outside on a warm day and my senses expand, I reach out with them all to experience everything. And I can just stay like that, experiencing. Being a part of the whole amazing world.
On a cold day, my total reaction is drawing myself inwards, senses burrowing inside themselves. Trying to avoid everything.
There is no comparing the two. One is the way things should be, the other is the antithesis.
Posted by hugin at Febrero 12, 2003 10:48 PMhave you ever been in the high mountains in winter time? that's the place where my senses can *really* expand... ;-)
Posted by: kaydee on Febrero 13, 2003 07:35 AMNope, can't say as I have.
I imagine that is different indeed.
But how about those same places during the spring?
Um, don't you live in Canada? That kinda presents a problem if you don't like winter.
Maybe Hugin and Munin could relocate to Jamaica or somewhere like that!
Posted by: stacey on Febrero 13, 2003 11:30 AMTalk about hitting the nail on the head there Stacey. Yup, I live in Canada and not in the balmier section. Admittedly it isn't the coldest place in Canada either.
But some nice 25-35 degree weather would be great. Call that 75-90F I guess.
Somewhere the word snow most closely equates to a cool rain and a chilly bit of weather is in the 50s.
Posted by: Hugin on Febrero 13, 2003 08:09 PMI'm not sure to what extent this statement is true.
