'Fares between Britain and Germany have been cut to £1 or less as a new no-frills airline and Ryanair try to win customers by outdoing each other on price.' -BBC
That is just insane. You can't even take a bus ride for that price in some places!
How come we don't get prices like that? Oh if only we got those types of deals. The places I could visit. The cities and countries I could travel to! All for a quid!
Though admittedly I would be a little frightened to board a plane that charged such low fees. The questions that would progressively gnaw at my mind, driving me to the brink of mild neurotic aviophobia, would be: How do they maintain their planes properly? What’s keeping this bird in the air? Is something going to go dreadfully wrong ‘cause they haven’t charged enough to properly fix the problem?
Posted by munin at Enero 29, 2003 10:58 AM1 Pound? Isn't that about the equal to US $1.50? That is insane.
They must either be making so much money on other flights that they can stand total losses on that one, or they are somehow subsidized by somebody.
If fares were that low here I would quit my job, withdraw my savings, and see the world.
Posted by: stacey on Enero 29, 2003 11:06 AMYou *could* come and see me though. heh. :)
Posted by: Amber on Enero 29, 2003 11:55 AMStacey, I know that a quid = 2.30 Canadian, give or take a few pennies. It is completely insane. I think I would do the same thing. Pack Hugin’s backpack and mine; tell my boss that I am taking a yearlong hiatus [or however long they'll keep those prices going] and just bum around the world for a while.
Amber in a flash, darling ;) I would do that at the drop of a hat if we could afford it. Though at those prices we could make our way through Africa, Europe, new Zealand, Australia and all other manner of interesting places. No?! *nudge, nudge* *warm smile*
