I really, really want to see this movie. Hero.

I am just hoping that the goes the way of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, in the sense they do not dub the film. I am somewhat of a purist when it comes to movie watching. What I mean by that is that I much prefer watching a movie in its original language with subtitles then sitting through a movie that is clearly dubbed. It frustrates me beyond reason to watch a movie where the characters lips are moving after the actors ‘voice’ has ended. Yes, I have watched a fair amount of these movies in my time, and yes along with the rest I can recall the scenes we would replay at school, going through the motions, lips continuously miming out the words while another person did the voice over. ‘Your kung fu is strong’ [strikes pose, lip syncs some long forgotten mumbled prose.]

As much fun as this can be, I still feel that the actors voice lends a depth to the movie that cannot be attained by the dubbing voice. That the nuances, fluctuations and tones cannot be emulated in the dubbed language. The the jokes are just not as funny, and the sayings lack their usual punch.[shrug] Well at least that is what I think.
