Elegance

While taking a little walk, and passing through a magazine store Munin and I had a little discussion about elegance. Primarily dealing with the potential preconception that brunettes are more elegant than blondes.

Now perhaps this is a stereotype perpetuated by Hollywood, perhaps not. But we were trying to think of blonde women who are, or could be, considered elegant. It was a small number indeed and basically none recent.

What about models? Singers? Or other visible industries?
Is it a nationality thing? Are there more elegant people in Europe? Asia?

Any thoughts?

Reese Witherspoon can sometimes pull it off.

We manage to come up with a few women who we thought were elegant. Grace Kelly, Marlene Dietrich, Carole Landis are a few that I can remember, though they are from a completely different era. Of todays movie stars I could only think of Cate Blanchett and maybe Michelle Pfeiffer.

This discussion actually started with Catherine Zeta Jones who seems to hold herself in a manner the exudes elgance.

Please note, we are not saying that blonds aren't elegant. It just seems that in the world of movie stars, singers... well we just couldn't find that many.

let's not forget Meryl Streep! She's loosened up and become less serious in the past 10 years or so, but no one could ever try to hang a "dumb blonde" sign on her! She exudes elegance and class.
