Spent most of the yesterday going through our training manuals. My self-prescribed task cause I’m a glutton for punishment baby, is to update the manuals to reflect the changes that have been made to the software. Some of the documentation is rather good, whilst others, well lets just say they look they have been thrown together at the very last possible moment. My favorite document that falls in to this category is one that has been written in two distinctly different languages. By this I mean that is not a bilingual document in which the information has been laid out in both languages, but instead has some of the chapters written in one language and the others written in another completely different language.
Who in their right mind writes a manual in two distinctly separate languages? Who? Do these people think that they will be able to provide a bilingual course? Hello! You do not write on chapter in one language and then switch over to the other for the next one. I don’t care who you think you are that is just plain idiocy! Why, you may ask, because it is hard enough fallowing an intensive course in one language and retain all the pertinent information, let alone trying to remember all the terms in two distinctly different languages! Feh! I guess we’ll be rewriting that one.[mild Growl]
